AWS Week in Review – November 30, 2015

I was super-double-extra busy last week and did not have time to assemble the Week in Review as usual. I’m playing catch-up now!

Monday November 30	We announced an AWS Certification Update – ISO 27017. The AWS Big Data Blog announced that Big Data AWS Training Course Gets Big Update. Cloudyn shared Top 7 Cloud Influencers You Need to Know About (I was happy to find my name on the list). Cloud Enlightened talked about Executing Ruby Code in AWS Lambda. Logz.io showed you How to Use AWS Elasticsearch for Log Management. Alooma talked about Building a Custom Analytics Solution with Amazon Redshift.
Tuesday December 1	We announced an Edge Location in Chicago for CloudFront and Route 53. We announced that Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL Now Supports Three Additional Extensions and Three New Parameters. The AWS Compute Blog talked about Getting Started with JAWS on Amazon Web Services. The AWS Windows and .NET Developer Blog announced New Support for Federated Users in the AWS Tools for Windows PowerShell. The AWS Partner Network Blog showed you How to Migrate Amazon EC2 Instances from EC2-Classic to Amazon VPC with CloudEndure. The AWS Security Blog showed you How to Set Up Federated API Access to AWS by Using Windows PowerShell. We updated the AWS Mobile SDK, the AWS CLI, and the AWS SDK for JavaScript. We announced the AWS Webinars for December 2015. CloudEndure published the Big List of 108 Cloud Events of 2016. Cloud Academy discussed AWS Security: Bastion Host, NAT Instances, and VPC Peering. Cloudreach talked about Serverless Architectures – Scalability Without Infrastructure. DevOps Service listed AWS Services That Can Be Reserved and also talked about AWS VPC Basics.
Wednesday December 2	We announced that the EC2 Container Service is Now Available in the Asia Pacific (Singapore) Region. We published a Quick Start Reference Deployment for Chef Server on AWS. The AWS Windows and .NET Developer Blog discussed Code Analyzers Added to AWS SDK for .NET. The AWS Mobile Development Blog published a two part series to help you Get Started with the AWS Device Farm CLI and Calabash (Part 2). The AWS Partner Network Blog announced Atlassian Bitbucket Support for AWS CodeDeploy. The AWS Startup Collection listed What’s Hot at AWS Pop-up Lofts in December. CloudHealth Academy listed 7 Things to Consider When Selecting a Cloud Service Provider. Cloud Academy reviewed AWS Directory Service Simple AD – A Cloud Active Directory. ParkMyCloud claimed that AWS Cost Explorer Improves Cost Visibility but not Cost Control.
Thursday December 3	We added CloudFormation Support for AWS Config, CodePipeline, EC2 Simple Systems Manager, and KMS. We announced Random Data Splitting and Cross-Validation Support for Amazon Machine Learning. The AWS Application Management Blog announced that AWS OpsWorks Now Supports Chef 12 for Linux. The AWS Big Data Blog talked about Migrating Metadata When Encrypting an Amazon Redshift Cluster. The AWS Enterprise Blog listed 11 Things to Consider When Educating Your Staff on Cloud. The AWS Partner Network Blog discussed Active Directory Single Sign-On (SSO) on AWS with Bitium. We updated the AWS CLI, AWS SDK for Java, AWS SDK for Ruby, and the AWS SDK for JavaScript. CloudCheckr announced CloudCheckr Alerts for Cost and Security. The Apcelent Blog showed you how to Setup AWS-EC2 Instance Management with Ansible in 10 Commands.
Friday December 4	We announced a New AWS Office in Istanbul, Turkey. The AWS PHP Developer Blog talked about Automating the Deployment of AWS Config with the AWS SDK for PHP. The Bitnami Blog announced that PHP 7 Has Been Released: Installers, VMs, Images, and Containers. Aerobatic is the easiest way to deploy and manage your static HTML website straight from Bitbucket.
Saturday December 5	Cloud Enlightened talked about CloudFormation Parameter Grouping and Labeling. Tyler showed you How to Control your Nest Thermometers with Alexa on the Amazon Echo with AWS Lambda, the Nest REST API, and Alexa Skills SDK.
