AWS Week in Review – November 2, 2015

I have been traveling and got behind on my Week in Review posts. Here’s the day-by-day for late October’ I’ll catch up on everything else (code, presentations, videos, events, and so forth) in the post for the week of November 9th.

Monday November 2	The AWS Enterprise Blog noted that Great Leaders Make New Rules. We updated the AWS Gaming site. The AWS Java Blog published a three-part series, Building a Serverless Developer Authentication API in Java using AWS Lambda, Amazon DynamoDB, and Amazon Cognito (Part 2, Part 3). Matthew D Fuller shared an AWS Lambda Pricing Calculator. Serverless Code talked about Scheduling EBS Snapshots with Lambda and showed you how to Emulate Lambda Locally for Testing and Profiling. We Kanban discussed Amazon Web Services IoT. Powerupcloud shared Amazon Import and Export Disk for Dummies.
Tuesday November 3	We announced a New Prep Class for the AWS Certified Solutions Architect — Professional Exam. We announced that CloudWatch Logs Now Support Kinesis Firehose. We announced that you can now Enable CORS in Amazon API Gateway. The AWS Mobile Development Blog announced that Videos are Now Available for Mobile and IoT Sessions from re:Invent 2015. The AWS Partner Network Blog discussed Running SQL Server Linked Servers on AWS. The AWS Startup Collection listed What’s Hot at AWS Pop-up Lofts in November. We updated the AWS SDK for Java, the AWS SDK for Ruby, the AWS SDK for Go, and the AWS SDK for JavaScript. Cloud Academy reviewed the AWS Shared Responsibility Model for Cloud Security. Cloudonaut talked about WordPress on AWS.
Wednesday November 4	We announced that an AWS Region in South Korea is In the Works. We announced Support for Self-Managed Oracle RAC on EC2. We announced that Longer EC2 & EBS Resource IDs are Coming in 2016. The AWS PHP Developer Blog showed you how to Receive Amazon SNS Messages in PHP. The AWS Application Management Blog went Under the Hood: AWS CodeDeploy and Auto Scaling Integration. We updated the AWS CLI. Erik Sipsma wrote about Server-free Express.js. ParkMyCloud asked What is AWS SneakerNet? And What Happens When It Becomes Self-Aware!
Thursday November 5	We announced that Amazon API Gateway Now Supports Stage Variables. The AWS Big Data Blog discussed Integrating Splunk with Amazon Kinesis Streams. The AWS Java Blog showed you How to Protect the Integrity of Your Encrypted Data by Using AWS Key Management Service and EncryptionContext. The AWS Startup Collection pondered the Dilemma of the Startup CTO Title. We updated the AWS Mobile SDK for Android and the AWS Mobile SDK for iOS. Eric Hammond showed you how to Pause/Resume an AWS Lambda Function Reading a Kinesis Stream. Serverless Code shared Part 2 on a series on Scheduling EBS Snapshots with Lambda. Cloud Academy reviewed AWS CodeCommit: Amazon Managed and Integrated SaaS Git. Cloudability described the Finance Team’s Cloud Cost Battle Station. Cloudonaut showed you how to Create a Serverless RESTful API with API Gateway, Swagger, Lambda, and DynamoDB. High Scalability shared A 360 Degree View of the Entire Netflix Tech Stack. InfoWorld reviewed AWS Lambda – AWS Lambda Redefines On-Demand.
Friday November 6	We announced that An AWS Region is Coming to the UK. CloudCheckr talked about Clarifying Multi-Account Views and RI Purchasing.
